14/3/14, Lakers vs Spurs Highlights
For
the first time ever in history, the Lakers was drastically trashed by the San
Antonio Spurs with a 34-point defeat. The disappointing defeat has caused the
Lakers to be officially eliminated from playoff contention.

The Spurs managed to effortlessly achieve a big lead (61-34) by halftime and that left them enough confidence for them to beat the Lakers. This also showed how badly Lakers players played on that match. Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni claimed that this was the hardest season he has been through so far. This was mainly caused by the lack of defense skills by the Lakers team. They had 71 points and were shooting 32.9% at the midpoint of the fourth quarter of the match.

With the victory claimed by the Spurs, the team’s
top trio Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili have successfully surpassed
Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Michael Cooper and are now the second
trio with most wins of all time, trailing only the troika of Larry Bird, Kevin McHale
and Robert Parish by only 49 wins. If they can maintain their excellent
performance throughout the season, achieving the first place shouldn’t be a
struggle.
