World's number one badminton player, Lee Chong Wei faced challenges during the All England Open Title as he nearly missed a winning opportunity by beating 21-17, 21-18 to China's Chen Long who is aged 25 this year.

In the last two years of All England Open tournament, Lee Chong Wei lost the title to his rival Lin Dan and Chen Long in the following year. This became a rather frustrating matter to the Malaysian supporters as Chong Wei often loses big badminton matches to China.

Chen Long played so well in the game leading 0-7 in first game and 1-6 in the second. The 31-year-old Malaysian struggled hard, getting back to 17-19 in the first half and a small lead at 15-14 in the second half. Even so, Lee faced his struggles during the game with the youthful and energetic Chen Long who showed speed and consistency that never backed down or wavered. At one point, Chen Long managed to achieve an eight-point lead, putting Lee an overhead drop wide, reducing the eight-point deficit to two, but Chen Long remained calm and sealed the game. In the second game, even when Lee pulled back a six-point deficit in the second game and briefly nosed ahead, Chen responded with calm authority. In a split second, Chen Long attacked back with a quick smash, breaking through Lee's nimble defence to reach 15-15 and soon increased his aggression to trash Lee.

“This was my best,” Lee said and he admitted he made simple mistakes in the first game and have no one to blame but that. He also complimented Chen Long for playing well. Despite the challenges faced by Lee, he still sees a fighting chance to build a big enough lead that he doesn't have to strain to achieve.
